Introduction
A definition of kindness, from a scriptural perspective, should reflect God’s nature.
Galatians 5: 22 - 23: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Genesis 50: 20 - 21: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.
Zechariah 7: 8 - 9: And the word of the LORD came again to Zechariah: This is what the LORD Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another’.
Ruth 2: 13 : “May I continue to find favour in your eyes, my lord,” she said. “You have put me at ease by speaking kindly to your servant - though I do not have the standing of one of your servants.”
Luke 6: 35: But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
Ephesians 4: 32: Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Luke 10: 33 - 34: But a Samaritan, as he travelled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.
God’s nature should be possessed by His followers. Hence in the above Bible Verses I have attempted to encapsulate some aspects of God’s nature.
