Endurance, Perseverance and Hope through Christ
Introduction
Endurance and Suffering are integral aspects of Patience.
Patience does not mean that you sit back, passively, doing nothing. You could, whilst patiently waiting, place your trust in God’s trustworthy timeframe.
Proverbs 16: 32: Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.
Romans 5: 3 - 4: Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
James 1: verses 2 - 3: Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
Galatians 5: 22 - 23: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
James 5: 7: Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.
James 5: 8 - 9: You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
2 Peter 3: 9: The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
Jesus our Pioneer and Perfector: Slow to anger, long suffering and patient with His people. Hebrews 12: 1- 2: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
