Your Eyes Will Be Opened: From Perfection to Redemption”-Weekly Bible Verses – Genesis 1–3 | Psalm 8 | Colossians 3 | Psalm 139

Theme: Your Eyes Will Be Opened!

Introduction
God pronounced them perfect!
God demonstrated His confidence in the intellectual ability of humanity
by allowing Adam to name all the animals (including the birds).

Sunday

Genesis 1: 31: God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning - the sixth day.

Monday

Genesis 2: 19: Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.

Tuesday

Genesis 3: 4 - 5: “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Wednesday

Genesis 3: 9 - 10: But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

Thursday

Psalm 8: 4 - 5: What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honour.

Friday

Colossians 3: 10: And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

Saturday

Psalm 139: 14: I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Conclusion

Devine Wisdom and care for His “creatures" Adam and Eve did not need to eat the fruit of that tree in the garden to become wise, they “were already “perfect” in the ‘eyes’ of God. God came looking for His “children”, calling out, “where are you.” God Almighty, being Omniscient, knew what they had done and where they were. Please note that God calling to Adam and Eve is indicative of Divine Love for His “children.” Adam’s eyes and Eve’s eyes were open indeed, to the knowledge of sin, shame and, fear of their infinitely loving God. God was then, and still is to this day, in the business of receiving prayers of confession from sinners, reconciliation, and restoration.
