Introduction: What Is The Big Issue?
Sin is not the Big Issue; God has a plan for the Sin Issue!
Our unbelief and lack of Righteousness is the
Real Big Issue. God also has a plan for our unrighteousness: the
”Real Big Issue” that separates us from God but, it is not an unbridgeable chasm!
Exodus 3: 5: Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”
Deuteronomy 4: 24: For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
Isaiah 55: 8 - 9: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Psalm 9: 2: I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.
Hebrews 9: 7: But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.
Daniel 12: 3: Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.
1 Timothy 6: 16: Who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honour and might forever. Amen.
Revelation 4: 8: Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “ ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.” There is no gradation to His Holiness - utterly, absolutely, infinitely, unfathomably holy. To dwell in God’s presence you must be holy. The dilemma is this: God’s standard of holiness is absolute perfection (1 Peter 2: 16: for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”; Matthew 5: 48: Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.) Hence we have no hope of attaining by ourselves the perfect, unblemished holiness God requires. So God’s solution is this: God’s own perfect righteousness is imputed to every sinner in the Saving Grace of Jesus, The Christ, His Son. In summary Christ took our sin and paid with His life and His righteousness is credited to our account (2 Corinthians 5: 21: God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.)
