From Eden’s Closed Gate to Calvary’s Open Door
Introduction
There is only ‘One Way’ back to the Tree of Life.
Sinners basic problem is this, we are exiled from God and, while we are exiled we cannot live a perfect life. We could be cut off eternally from God at death. Hence the need for a Divine Redemptive Plan of Action.
Genesis 2: 9: The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground - trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 3: 24: After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
Genesis 3: 15: And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
Zechariah13: 7 - 8: “Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!” declares the LORD Almighty. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones. In the whole land,” declares the LORD, “two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it.
Matthew 26: 29: “I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
John 15: 5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
Matthew 27: 51: At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split.
This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’ (Zechariah13: 9). At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. The way to the Tree of Life is no longer barred! This single pathway back was re-opened when the Lamb Of God died at Calvary. (Matthew 27: 51 - 52).
