Looking Toward the Hill: Finding Our Direction in Troubled Times – Bible Verses For 18 – 21 March 2026

Theme: There Is A Hill Far Away.

Introduction
While so-called super powers manoeuvre and populations suffer, the Hill can seem very far way.
The Hill can be a beacon, a North Star, ever orienting us in the right direction.

Sunday

Psalm 121: 1 - 2: I lift up my eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Monday

2 Kings 22: 13: Go and inquire of the LORD for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the LORD’s anger that burns against us because those who have gone before us have not obeyed the words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us.

Tuesday

Daniel 1: 19: The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s service.

Wednesday

Jeremiah 33: 20: This is what the LORD says: ‘If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time, then my covenant with David my servant - and my covenant with the Levites who are priests ministering before me - can be broken and David will no longer have a descendant to reign on his throne.

Thursday

Isaiah 2: 2: In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it.

Friday

Jeremiah 29: 7: Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile.

Saturday

Matthew 15: 30: Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them.

Conclusion

Maybe, ordinary believers, individuals, not nations, nor institutions, will have to take the lead, the moral high ground. For example, Daniel and his friends were in Babylon but they were not persuaded to be Babylonians. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. (John 17: 14 - 16)
