Theme: Some Devine Rendezvouses: changed perspectives.

Introduction

During our quiet moments, focussed moments praying, reading the Holy word, we can encounter God. These moments can lead to individual spiritual transformation; sometimes, hopefully, transformation can also take place in a communal setting: since we are reminded that Jesus stated in Matthew, chapter 18, verse 20: “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Time spent with God is the sure way to grow in one’s faith, gain guidance, and achieve an ever improving relationship with the Divine.

Sunday

Abraham and Sarah.
Genesis 17: 15 - 16: God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”

Monday

Moses and Horeb, the mountain of God.
Exodus 3: 1 - 2: Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.

Tuesday

The Israelites.
Exodus 19: 7 - 8: So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all the words the LORD had commanded him to speak. The people all responded together, “We will do everything the LORD has said.” So Moses brought their answer back to the LORD.

Wednesday

Mary, Mother Of Jesus.
Luke 1: 30 - 31: But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favour with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus”.

Thursday

Joseph, the husband of the mother of Jesus.
Matthew 1: 20: But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit”.

Friday

Zechariah and Elizabeth.
Luke 1: 18 - 19: Zechariah asked the angel, “How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.” The angel said to him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news”.

Saturday

Joseph of Arimathea.
John 19: 38 - 40: Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away. He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds. Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.

Conclusion

Grow me Lord Jesus, train me, build me up Lord, fill me with your grace, so that I can be more confident to tell others openly of your love; you are my Lord and King.
