Welling Seventh Day Adventist Church

Bible verses for week commencing 5 May 2024.

Theme

Lord, I want to be a Christian.

Sunday

(Lord, I want to be a Christian, in my heart).

Romans 12:2: Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Monday

(Lord, I want to be more loving, in my heart).

Philippians 2:1-3: If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if and fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than you yourselves.

Tuesday

(Lord, I want to be more holy, in my heart).

Galatians 5:22-23: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Wednesday

(Lord, I want to be like Jesus, in my heart).

1 John 3:23-24: And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

Thursday

(Lord, I want to be more loving, and holy, in my heart)

Ephesians 2:10: For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Friday

(Lord, I want to be more loving, holy, and like Jesus, in my heart)

John 14:14-17: You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

15 “If you love me, you will do what I command.

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counsellor to be with you for ever —

17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Saturday

(Lord; I want to be a Christian; in my heart)

Romans 8:28-31: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image (likeness) of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all – how will He not also, along with him, graciously give us all things.
