Introduction
When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples to ask Him, “Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?”
Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see; The blind received sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.”
“Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me.”
As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind?
Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom it is written: I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.”
Matthew 11:2-7; 9, 10.

Saturday
I Am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.
John 15:5.
I had planted you like a choice vine of sound and reliable stock. How then did you turn against me into a corrupt, wild vine?

Reflection
Thank you Lord God for sending your Word, the Communicator, your Son; into this world to tell us of your plan to make us wholly thine. The words of life, prophets and types, are designed by God to point believers, in every generation, to Jesus Christ for deliverance from the consequences of sin: death.
Amen.
