Welling Seventh Day Adventist Church
Bible Verses for week commencing 28 April 2024.
Theme
Do you not know!
Sunday
Then GOD said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Genesis 1:26-27.
Comment: God created humanity, to dwell with them and, for them, to bear His image to the world; no need for a physical structure (sanctuary/temple).
Monday
Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.
Exodus 25:8.
Tuesday
These I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer.
Isaiah 56:7.
Wednesday
The WORD became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen the glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14.
Thursday
Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it up again in three days.”
The Jews replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” But the temple He had spoken of was His body. After He was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what He had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
John 2:19-22.
Friday
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-22.
Saturday
I did not see a temple in the city, because the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY and the LAMB are its temple.
Revelation 21:22.
Conclusion
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, God Himself will be with them and be their God.
Revelation 21:3.
God wants “you all” to function as a little temple (sanctuary) today, wherever “you all” may be.
The sanctuary/temple is where God dwells with His people throughout the Biblical Story. So if the people of God are the temple, that means it is through ‘these’ people that God reaches the world.
