Welling Seventh Day Adventist Church
Bible Verses for week commencing 26 November 2023
Theme: God has not called us just to “fit in” we should be dispelling darkness; we are the light of the world.
Sunday
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9
Monday
And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.
Genesis 1:14
Tuesday
God made two great lights – the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern night. He also made the stars.
Genesis 1:16
Wednesday
This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
1 John 1:5-7
Thursday
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17
Friday
You are the light of the world.
A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
Saturday (Sabbath)
As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.
Genesis 8:22
Conclusion
God is present in nature and the changing seasons, including winter. As we wait for the season to change; which demonstrates the sovereignty of God over the universe that He created; let us also remember that we should be:
“declaring the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9
