The Greatest Gift That I Have Received

I had to retire in my mid-forties on ” Ill Health” from a job that I really enjoyed, although it was challenging at times.
This caused me great pain, sadness, feelings of loss and loneliness.

I had questions, why me.
I asked myself some deep soul searching questions for days, weeks and months. Then I started to attend church more frequently when I felt able to do so.

One particular sermon touched my heart. I felt at peace with myself and ill health. I decided to give my life to Father God who knows everything about me.
Through baptism I became a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

God has made all the difference in my life. He will never leave me nor forsake me. He has held my hands through severe storms, mountains, valleys and rivers of tears. He has made a way out of every situation, no matter how hard and difficult it was. I know God will continue to make a way.

Today I am happy in Jesus. He gives me the breath of life each day. I am still standing on his promises and will continue to lift his name on high. At all times and in every situation I will praise God.
He has given me the Greatest Gift ” LIFE”

“Recover your life. Take a real rest. Live freely and lightly.”

When we read these words from Jesus in Matthew 11: 28-23, it’s easy to think they’re for someone else. Someone with a more laid-back personality. Someone who’s super spiritual. Someone… anyone else… who must have their act together.

But here’s the deal. Jesus’ invitation to find real rest is for YOU.

It’s for the you who doesn’t have their act together. The you who doesn’t have life figured out. The you who he loves and the you whose load he wants to lighten!

Every word Jesus spoke in Scripture is truth for our lives every single day. He said in the middle of this crazy world, we can find rest in him. Jesus wants to and can give us that rest.

Your Want Is Somebody Else’s Need.

And my God will meet all your needs according to his riches in glory. Phil 4:19

When I got home last night, the car fuel gauge was showing yellow which meant I was low on petrol.

God had brought me home on a wing and a prayer. When I got in, I went to the flowerpot where I keep my change and counted out £5 in 20 pence pieces. There were no £1 or £2 coins in the pot this time.

The next morning, whilst driving to work I noticed that the petrol indicator was now on the red line. I drove at 70 miles per hour and God performed a miracle and took me to work.

In the evening, I went to Tesco petrol station in Lewisham with my £5 of 20 pence coins. I found £2 in my purse. I was slightly embarrassed with all these coins in a white envelope. The cashier said that she really needed the change.

Although I entered the petrol station embarrassed, I left feeling encouraged that my 20 pence coins was meeting the need for change at the petrol station. And so it is that ‘one man’s want is another man’s need.’

Dear God

Thank you for the daily miracles of answered prayers. For our small needs, of extending the petrol in our cars and for the finances to pay our bills. Thank you when you provide the space in the car park but most of all, daily travelling mercies.

Amen.

Remember who you are!

Good morning!!

Wishing God’s blessings upon you, your families, and communities.

I pray that God gives you strength, power, and peace this day and always.

I have a question for you to reflect upon. Do you know who you are?

Yes, you say of course I do!!!

However, I would like to suggest to you, when God calls you, all that you are changes.

We are not talking about adopting the Atkins diet or having a makeover.

Paul says …those things I use to do, I do no more.  He states further …when I was child I spoke as a child, but now I am man (in Christ) I put away childish things.

The bible makes clear we can only have a sense of being truly complete when we draw strength from the vine which is Christ Jesus.

I would suggest that you look in the mirror today and if you don’t like what you see😊 go to the only one who has the true antidote- Christ.  Take all your deficiencies to him today and allow him to make you whole.

What I have learnt during my short time on earth is that we were made for connection not just with others but with God our maker.

Saint Augustine wrote “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.”

When you know who you are in Christ, – that you’re Gods child, then you will experience His peace, joy, contentment. Nothing compares to this!!! Not your job, your house, your clothes, – not even your children or your spouse 😊
Try Him today and watch the Jericho walls fall, the Red Sea part and the Goliath’s in your way move.
Whatever the challenge, remember whose you are in Christ 😊
