Welling Seventh Day Adventist Church
Your Investment
Good day,
If we were being honest with ourselves, many of us have followed the counsels of others, family, friends, or even those promising quick riches on social media—only to be left disappointed. We’ve trusted in voices that sounded wise but led us nowhere.
But Jesus offers us a different perspective in Matthew 6:19–21:
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Jesus isn’t saying wealth is inherently evil, but He lovingly warns that earthly riches can never provide lasting joy or security. Time, aging, and the unpredictable nature of life—along with the selfishness and greed of man—will always challenge what we hold on to here.
But here is the confidence where I’ve found peace:
When we invest in heavenly treasures, we’re choosing what cannot be corrupted or lost. No devaluation. No break-ins. No policy changes. No envy. No taxes. And above all, eternal enjoyment in the presence of God, because we will live forevermore with Him.
P.S. The treasures we store in heaven aren’t silver and gold, but the fruits of a life rooted in faith, our obedience, our love, and our commitment to God’s will. These are the riches that truly count.
Have a Christ centred day.
