The Living Bread

“I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world…. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.”
John 6:51–55, KJV
The words, “Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11), refer not only to temporal food but also to the spiritual food which brings everlasting life to the receiver. When we believe and receive Christ’s word, we eat His flesh and drink His blood, not literally, but spiritually, by internalizing His truth and life.
Just as eating physical food strengthens the body, so feeding on the Word of God strengthens the soul. God’s Word is spirit and life (John 6:63) to those who receive it with faith. To partake of Christ’s flesh and blood is to partake of His divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). A vital, life-giving current flows from Christ to the believer — renewing, transforming, and sustaining them in daily life.
“He who partakes of Christ’s flesh and blood is a partaker of the divine nature…. A vital, life-giving current flows from his Saviour to him.”
Manuscript 48, 1895; Ellen G. White
May this life-giving current flow in you today.
Have a blessed and Spirit-filled day!
