Introduction: Seven absolute predicates of Jesus.
The first predicate is: The Bread of Life.
John 6:35: Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to be will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
The Light of the world.
John 8:12: When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The door (gate).
John 10:7, 9: Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.”
The good shepherd.
John 10:11: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
The resurrection and the life.
John 11:25-26: Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
The way, the truth and the life.
John 14:6-7: Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
I am.
John 8:58-59: “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.
Revelation 1:8: I am the Alpha and Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:17 and 18: When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever!
