Welling Seventh Day Adventist Church

Bible Verses for week commencing Sunday, 26 January 2025

Theme: Give up your liberty and seek freedom! Introduction The Christian way of life is not enslaving but, it is enabling; it is the only way to resist various enslaving ways of the World. Christians can’t just do whatever they feel like doing (false liberty); rather, we should serve and love others.
Sunday

“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies. Psalm 103:1-4

Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” That is the first and great commandment. “And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ “On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:35-40

Thursday

This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12

Friday

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. John 15:13

Saturday

“Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. John 17:24

Conclusion

God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are One. They act in unison to bring about your salvation through Their tender, merciful, loving kindness. We are not at liberty to be dispassionate towards our fellow human beings. We are commanded to love and care for others as we love ourselves. If we all loved as the above verses illustrate we would not have so many people without compassion for each other in the world and our intent towards each other would not be evil continually!
