Numbers 23:19: God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?
Welling Seventh Day Adventist Church
Bible Verses for week commencing Sunday, 2 March 2025
Theme: Children of The Sovereign God; Heirs of Salvation.
Psalm 14:1-3: The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
John 15:16-17: You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit - fruit that will last - and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: love each other.
John 17:6,9: I have revealed You to those whom You gave me out of the world. They were Yours; You gave them to me and they have obeyed Your word. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but those You have given Me, for they are Yours.
1 John 4:19-21: We love because He first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, who they have not seen. And He has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.
Ephesians 2:4-6: But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved.
Ephesians 1:3-10: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessings in Christ. For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will - to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, He made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment - to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
It is truly amazing that God would lavish His love on sinners like me and you. What is fair about God imputing our vile, sinful behaviour unto His beloved Son! God is not about “fairness”, He is a God of mercy, we don’t need fairness, what we need is mercy from God, although we do not deserve it. Amen to a promise from a Sovereign who does not lie; will you accept now this unmerited but guaranteed Salvation!?
