Peace, Perfect Peace

Today more than ever, our world is in turmoil.
Wars between nations.
Division in families and friendships.
Conflict in political arenas.
With so much tension, one might ask:
Where can we find peace?
Where is the safe place to rest our thoughts, steady our hearts, and breathe again?
Maybe you imagine peace as a quiet walk in the park, listening to birds singing.
Or standing beside a gentle river watching ducks glide peacefully across the water, occasionally dipping below the surface in search of food.
That scene certainly feels peaceful.
But is that true peace? Or is peace something deeper, something stronger, than just a quiet moment in nature?
Jesus answers this in John 16:33 (MSG): “I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace.” According to Jesus, peace is found in trusting Him.
Not in the absence of problems but in the presence of the One who overcomes them.
We are reminded of this in the story of Jesus and His disciples in the storm.
After a long day of ministry, Jesus stepped into a boat and fell asleep.
A fierce storm arose. The disciples panicked. They thought they would drown.
So they woke Jesus desperate, afraid, overwhelmed.
And then:
Mark 4:39 (MSG) says,
“Awake now, he told the wind to pipe down and said to the sea, ‘Quiet! Settle down!’ The wind ran out of breath; the sea became smooth as glass.”
The same Jesus who calmed the storm on the sea, still calms storms in the soul.
This is real peace.
Not denial of problems. Not escape from reality. But assurance in the One who is greater than every storm.
When the world shakes, He steadies.
When life hurts, He heals.
When chaos rises, He speaks peace.
Whether you’re facing political uncertainty, war, illness, heartbreak, loss, or fear…
Jesus is still the Peace Speaker.
And today, He speaks peace over your life.
Receive it. Rest in it.
Trust Him and be deeply at peace.
Amen.
