Life is uncertain, but God remains sovereign. This reflection calls us to humble dependence, planning with faith, trusting God’s will, and resting in His guidance according to James 4:14–15.
Good day,
Life has a way of reminding us how fragile our plans truly are. In moments when things do not unfold as we hoped, disappointment can quickly overwhelm us. Too often, this happens when our confidence rests in people, possessions, or in our own ability rather than in God. What seems secure today can vanish without warning, calling us back to a place of humility and trust in the Lord.
We are often devastated when life goes contrary to our desires or intentions. Disappointment usually comes when we turn from God and place our trust in people, riches, or in our own abilities. We make promises, pledges, and decisions based on what we or others can do, or on what we believe our resources can achieve.
Yet the truth is: today everything may seem fine, but the next minute, hour, or day, destruction can come upon us, our relationships, and our resources.
The Lord admonishes us through His servant James:
James 4:14–15
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
Today, let us say:
Lord, I plan to accomplish this today. Please bring success if it is Your will, or show me what needs to be done so that success comes according to Your purpose.
Lord, help us to surrender every plan to Your will and trust You with our tomorrow.”
