His Mercies, Our Gratitude

Featured image

As we come to the close of another year, it may sound cliché to talk about giving thanks, but it’s worth pausing to ask: What are we thankful for? Why do we give thanks? And who are we giving thanks to?
First, let’s talk about the who. While the world often acts as though we are the authors of our own lives, Scripture reminds us that the heavens declare the glory of God. He is the One who holds it all together.
So why are we thankful? Because God has kept us. In spite of financial hardships, catastrophes, broken relationships, seasons of sadness, and even the loss of loved ones, God has been faithful.
And we are grateful because death was not our portion. We are still in the land of the living, still in our right minds, simply because God’s mercies are new every morning.
As we draw near to the end of the year, we can say with confidence that God has continually been our shield because He has kept us.
