Are You Listening

Good Day.

So many friendships, relationships, and connections break down because one party fails to truly listen to the other. Too often, we listen to argue rather than listen to hear and to understand.
The Bible asks in Amos 3:3: “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Agreement begins with listening. It is both wise and appropriate to listen objectively, rather than simply waiting for our turn to speak.
Even God, the Sovereign of the universe, the Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient One, shows us the beauty of listening. He declares, “Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24). Though He knows all, He gives us His time, His attention, and His ear to remind us that He understands.
If our Lord listens to us with such love and patience, how much more should we listen to our families, friends, neighbors, and those He places in our path?
Let us pray that we will not be so proud, pompous, or self-important that we fail to understand the hearts of those around us. May we choose humility and compassion, listening not to argue, but to love.Prayer:
Lord, give me ears to hear, not only the words of others, but their hearts. Help me to walk in agreement with those around me by listening with patience, grace, and understanding. May my listening reflect Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a Christ centred day.
