Don’t Write the Eulogy Yeti
What the story of Lazarus teaches us about God’s perfect timing and resurrection power.
Lazarus’ story is often remembered as a lesson about timing, reminding us that Jesus is never late. From a human perspective, He may seem delayed, sometimes even very late. Yet when we look back on Scripture and reflect on our own experiences, we realize that God’s timing is always perfect.
Rent due, and the provision comes right on time.
School fees needed, and God makes a way.
Finances running low, and God sends the right person at the right moment.
God’s timing is impeccable!
Today, however, I want to highlight something that is often overlooked in this story. By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had already died. Many believed it would have been better if Jesus had come before Lazarus died. Yet the greatest and most glorious miracle happened after Jesus arrived, when all hope seemed lost.
Lazarus was called out of the grave!
Here is our Hallelujah moment:
Is there something in your life that seems dead today?
A dream that has died? Jesus can restore it.
A broken heart? Jesus can heal it.
A career stalled by wrong turns? Jesus can redirect your path and breathe new life into it.
A relationship that seems beyond repair? Jesus still raises what others have given up on.
Whatever the situation, however hopeless it may appear, don’t write a eulogy over your life or over the life of someone else. What seems finished to us is never beyond the power of Christ.
Give it to Jesus.
The same Savior who called Lazarus from the tomb still speaks life into hopeless situations today. He specializes in turning endings into new beginnings.
“Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die. John 11:25 (NIV)
Have a Christ-centred day.
