Title: The Commander

Theme

The Commander of the LORD’s Army is on your side; are you on His.

Sunday

Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his words.

Psalm 103:20.

Monday

Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise him in the heights above. Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his heavenly hosts. Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded and they were created.

Psalm 148:1-5.

Tuesday

Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson?

Who is this, robed in splendour, striding forward in the greatness of his strength?

It is I, speaking in righteousness, mighty to save.

Isaiah 63:1.

Wednesday

My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king.

Daniel 6:22.

Thursday

The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17.

Friday

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us, or, for our enemies?” “Neither, he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell face down to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?”

The commander of the Lord’s army replied, Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.

Joshua 5:13-16.

Saturday

For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father.”

Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”?

And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.”

Hebrews 1:5-6.

Conclusion

Joshua brought the Israelites into the promised land and God and his Son, Jesus, want to take you and me into their heavenly kingdom.

The Lord has demonstrated time and time again that you are precious to Him.

Are you positioned on the side of the LORD, so that He can deliver you into the heavenly Canaan.

Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, as was said before:

“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”

Hebrew 4:7.
