Welling Seventh Day Adventist Church

Bible verses for week commencing 3 March 2024.

Theme

Potent Prediction of the Priest and King and how his creatures treated Him.

Sunday

Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High,

and he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.

And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

Genesis 14:18-20.

Monday

For it is declared: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless

(for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.

Hebrews 7:17-18.

Tuesday

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?

Psalms 22:1.

Wednesday

Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.

Psalm 22:12.

Thursday

Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.

Galatians 6:6.

Friday

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Matthew 5:17-20.

Saturday

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

John 1:17.

Conclusion

It is remarkable how the coming of the Messiah was so accurately prefigured and predicted and yet still those ‘in the know’ (in other words), Jesus’ enemies (political authorities and religious leaders – compare them to the wild bulls of Bashan) banded together and viciously attacked and killed Jesus, the Saviour of the world.

Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.

Psalm 22:12.
