Welling Seventh Day Adventist Church
Bible Verses for week commencing 18 February 2024.
Theme
Do not be Fearful.
(For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
Isaiah 41:13).
Introduction
Imagine receiving the Holy Ghost; heaven has been opened unto you; you have experienced God’s goodness, yet you decide to sin against Him, repeatedly.
Sunday
And I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
Matthew 12:31-32.
Monday
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Ephesians 4:29-32.
Tuesday
If you love me, you will obey my command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counsellor to be with you for ever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.
John 14:15-19.
Wednesday
It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because of their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.
Hebrew 6:4-6.
Thursday
Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
Hebrew 12:14.
Friday
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
2 Tim 1:6-7.
Saturday
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.
John 16:13-14.
Conclusion
One eternal or unforgivable sin (blasphemy against the Holy Spirit), also know as the sin unto death, is specified in several passages of the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew 12:31; Mark 3:28-29; Luke 12:10, for example).
Self-exclusion from communion with God, self-condemnation,
final impenitence = Hell.
However, if you are “fearful” that you have committed the unpardonable sin; by fearful I mean that you are conscious of your need for God’s pardon and grace; then it is likely that you have not committed the unpardonable sin and, hence you need not be fearful.
